
Bilingual developmentFocus on pre-school bilingual children and explore language and cognitive development. We begin by defining what the meaning of bilingualism is and what the criteria of bilingual child are. The authors own theoretical framework for cognitive development and language processing is presented and used to interpret the difference in performance of bilingual and monolingual children. We use a variety of methodologies to study and show that bilinguals have an impact on childrens ability to selectively focus on interrelated information.
