I love breakup songs and it has been a mission of mine toto write a poem or lyrics that are at least close to some of the greats.Jim Webb has written some of my favourites, he nailed it and obviously went through a painful break up. Do What You Gotta Do by Nina Simone or by the Four Tops. Requiem, Didn’t We and MacArthur Park all by Richard Harris are 3 of his greats.My favourite breakup song is the acoustic version of No Regrets by Tom Rush. It hurts in the right places. The Walker Brothers also do a fabulous take on this great song. Another great breakup song is To Love Somebody by the Bee Gees with an excellent cover by the fabulous Nina Simone.Did I get close to these magical songs, I don’t know, but I tried. There is, for who are happy in the pain of break up, lots of songs and poetry. A lot of pain, guilt, and longing for you to enjoy and indulge.
