After studying modern languages at Oxford University, Michael Swan spent many years as an English language teacher, and subsequently as a writer of English-teaching and reference materials. His many well-known books in this field, published by Oxford and Cambridge University Presses, are used by students and teachers world-wide. Michael Swan is also widely-published and well-respected poet, and has won a number of prizes for his work.
