When it comes to resistance training, it’s important to know what you’re doing. Why? Because if it is not methodically planned out it could result in either in injury, burnout, or boredom. It’s not an easy thing to organize and periodize our weight-lifting regimen. In fact, I would say most just do the typical bodybuilding routine of 6-12 reps at 3 sets. Nothing wrong with that for a while, but therein lies the what to do when that regimen gets old.Where will you go now when you stop getting that “pump”? Where will you go when you stop getting progress, results, or even sore after your workouts? Well, I’ll tell what needs to happen—you have to have alternate methods of performing typically the same type of lifts. I mean, how many variations of a curl or squat can you come up with? Sure, there’s a few different ways, but even those will eventually get old. But there is a better way. Let me show you.By not only having alternate outlets of performing our favorite types of weight training but also periodizing them—or systematically programming—we solve all of the aforementioned problems. “But,” you ask, ”what outlets are we talking about? And how do I periodize them? Who has time for that?” You’re right; nobody has time for that, even the professional athletic trainers and coaches. I understand this problem. Don’t worry, I have it covered…In the Resistance Training Management System, there are twelve (yes twelve!) different phases in three categories to choose from to perform your favorite lift. Literally—twelve different ways to exercise a body part by alternating the reps, sets, tempo, and rest, making you your own personal trainer. And if you do happen to be a personal trainer by profession, guess what? You don’t have to fill out one of those time-sapping workout planners or write on a dry-erase board ever again. I know, finally, right? To couple the twelve phases of adaptation, there are accompanying pre-programmed formulas to follow for multiple gym settings or home-based scenarios for multiple types of individuals in any stage of their weight lifting walk of life. All the guesswork has been taken out of your hands and you don’t need to worry about how to program your workouts any more. That is why this and the other Foundational Strength programs were to make life simpler and more time-efficient; to do what we came here to do. In this case, it’s lifting weights, not having to program our own workouts. This system does that for you and you will not be disappointed. I use it myself and have meticulously created these phases and periodization formulas over many years to meet the needs of the general gym-going and home-based fitness populations. I hope you enjoy it as you utilize it in your own life. Thank you.—Kevin Roberts
