
Thomas Keller is an American chef, restaurateur, and cookbook writer. He and his landmark Napa Valley restaurant, The French Laundry in Yountville, California, have won multiple awards from the James Beard Foundation, notably the Best California Chef in 1996, and the Best Chef in America in 1997. The restaurant is a perennial winner in the annual Restaurant Magazine list of the Top 50 Restaurants of the World. In 2005, he was awarded the three star rating in the inaugural Michelin Guide for New York for his restaurant Per Se, and in 2006, he was awarded three stars in the inaugural Michelin Guide to the Bay Area for The French Laundry. He is the only American chef to have been awarded simultaneous three star Michelin ratings for two different restaurants.

Kallisthenes - von dem nur noch Fragmente vorliegen - war Historiker im Gefolge Alexanders und ist daher nicht als "neutrale" Quelle anzusehen, sondern als jemand der die Geschichte so aufschrieb, wie Alexander sie überliefert haben wollte. Das früheste - heute noch vollständig vorliegende - Geschichtswerk ist aus dem ersten Jahrhundert vor Christus im 17. Buch der "Bibliothéke historiké" von Diodor erhalten. Die nach Auffassung zahlreicher Historiker beste und verlässlichste Behandlung stammt von Arrian, der aber erst im 2. Jh. nach Christus lebte - rund 400 Jahre nach Alexanders Tod. Die Quellen zu Alexander sind folglich mit großer Vorsicht zu behandeln und grundsätzlich immer kritisch zu hinterfragen. Die moderne Literatur hat ebenfalls zahlreiche Werke zu Alexander III. - und auch dessen Aufenthalt in Ägypten - verfasst. Allerdings gibt es ein deutliches Ungleichgewicht in den Thematiken. Weltkrieg in der Ersten Tschechoslowakischen Republik, Aufstieg zu einem bekannten deutschsprachigen sozialdemokratischen Redakteur und politischen Intellektuellen. 1937 dann Austritt aus der Deutschen Sozialdemokratischen Partei der Tschechoslowakei - der erste Bruch.Nach der Zerschlagung der "Rest-Tschechei" ist Franzel NSDAP-Anwärter, eine Mitgliedschaft scheint nicht zustande gekommen zu sein, und beginnt kurz nach Kriegsausbruch eine Umschulung zum Bibliothekar. Später Dienst bei der Schutzpolizei, wo er nach dem normalen Dienst in der Schreibstube bald wieder als Redakteur und Geschichtslehrer arbeitet. Bei Kriegsende wird Franzel noch beim Abzug aus Prag schwer verletzt und gerät in tschechoslowakische Kriegsgefangenschaft.Nach einigen Monaten im Lazarett und in Kriegsgefangenschaft wird Emil Franzel im März 1946 nach Bayern abgeschoben, wo er seine Familie wiedertrifft. In der Nachkriegszeit entwickelt sich Franzel zu einem der führenden Publizisten der Abendlandbewegung, der sich auch für die Ackermann-Gemeinde, die Gesinnungsgemeinschaft sudetendeutscher Katholiken, stark engagiert. Beruflich gelingt ihm der Einstieg als Bibliothekar in der Bayerischen Staatsbibliothek.Die vorliegende Magisterarbeit skizziert den facettenreichen Lebensweg von Emil Franzel und analysiert seine Wandlung vom Sozialdemokraten zum Konservativen. The Palestinian-Israeli Conflict – A Historical PerspectiveThe initial intent of this thesis was to explore the historiography of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and identify the key issues in the debate. The primary intent of this thesis was to evaluate the strategic security related risks the State of Israel must take in order to maintain the status quo of military occupation in the Israeli controlled territories of the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Golan Heights.The research was conducted, generally, by rigorously exploring as much primary evidence as possible. This included, but was not limited to, published interviews, published studies, and government documents. The research was conducted, specifically, to provide a representative sampling of research from both Israeli and Arab historians.The research revealed that the Palestinian intifada, or "uprising," directly affected the Israeli government's political and military planning, strategically and tactically, in the occupied territories. Die vorliegende Arbeit hat es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, die politischen Leistungen Kennedys abseits jeglicher Spekulation zu untersuchen und eine Antwort auf die Frage zu finden, ob der «Mythos Kennedy» eine Rechtfertigung besitzt. Anhand der Außenpolitik als einem Gebiet, welches sich von den Verzerrungen der Sensationspresse und Emotionen weitgehend isolieren läßt, wurden v.a. auf der Grundlage von Originalquellen die Grundzüge Kennedyscher Überzeugungen und deren Umsetzung in konkrete Politik untersucht. Die Ergebnisse wurden in abschließender Würdigung in den aktuellen Zeitkontext gesetzt und bewertet.
