When J. D. Williams wrote this entertaining, witty introduction for the nonscientist, game theory was still a somewhat mysterious subject familiar to very few scientists beyond those researchers, like himself, working for the military. Now, over thirty years after its original publication as a Rand Corporation research study, his light-hearted though thoroughly effective primer is the recognized classic introduction to an increasingly applicable discipline. Used by amateurs, professionals, and students throughout the world in the classroom, on the job, and for personal amusement, the book has been through ten printings, and has been translated into at least five languages (including Russian and Japanese).Revised, updated, and available for the first time in an inexpensive paperback edition, The Compleat Strategyst is a highly entertaining text essential for anyone interested in this provocative and engaging area of modern mathematics. In fully illustrated chapters complete with everyday examples and word problems, Williams offers readers a working understanding of the possible methods for selecting strategies in a variety of situations, simple to complex. With just a basic understanding of arithmetic, anyone can grasp all necessary aspects of two-, three-, four-, and larger strategy games with two or more sets of inimical interests and a limitless array of zero-sum payoffs. As research and study continues not only in this new discipline but in the related areas of statistics, probability and behavioral science, understanding of games, decision making, and the development of strategies will be increasingly important. In the areas of economics, sociology, politics, and the military, game theory is sure to have an even wider impact. For students and amateurs fascinated by game theory's implications there is no better, immediately applicable, or more entertaining introduction to the subject than this engaging text by the late J. D. Williams, Professor of Mathematics at Princeton University and a member of the Research Council of The Rand Corporation.

Excerpt from Europe and America, in 1821I request that this spirit of conciliation and pacification may preside over the interpretation of every thing that may have escaped in a work which was, of necessity, hastily composed. An impartial judge is always inclined to interpret in mitius. It 18 in this spirit that the expression of country of evil fame, that will be found in the chapter on the death of Napoleon, should be considered; it only refers to a common opinion, which has been founded upon actions, that are to be attributed only to the 'manners of the least civilised portion of the inhabitants of that country. Not a single act or general qu alification has been heard. The population of Corsica is known to resemble that of other civilised countries, and that it has presented France with men of great distinction in several professions. No one can have the right of inculpating a whole country or a whole population.

The International Society o Chemotherapy meets every two years to review progress in chemotherapy of infections and of malignant disease. Each meeting gets larger to encompass the extepsion of chemotherapy into new areas. In some instances, expansion has been rapid, for example in cephalosporins, pen icillins and combination chemotherapy of cancer - in others slow, as in the field of parasitology. New problems of resistance and untoward effects arise; reduction of host toxicity without loss of antitumour activity by new substances occupies wide attention. The improved results with cancer chemotherapy, es pecially in leukaemias, are leading to a greater prevalence of severe infection in patients so treated, pharmacokinetics of drugs in normal and diseased subjects is receiving increasing attention along with related problems of bioavailability and interactions between drugs. Meanwhile the attack on some of the major bacterial infections, such as gonorrhoea and tubercu losis, which were among the first infections to feel the impact of chemotherapy, still continue to be major world problems and are now under attack with new agents and new methods. From this wide field and the 1,000 papers read at the Congress we have produced Proceedings which reflect the variety and vigour of research in this important field of medicine. It was not possible to include all of the papers presented at the Congress but we have attempted to include most aspects of cur rent progress in chemotherapy."

Timeless Love is the story of handsome 22-year-old Dan Parker, a gay college senior who meets the mysterious history professor, Dr. Abraham “Bram” Percival Bronwyn, an acclaimed scholar who seems to know everything there is to know about history. Working as Dr. Bronwyn’s research assistant on his newest book project, Dan feels an emotional and physical attraction toward the enigmatic professor, who looks to be around 33 or 34 years of age, but whose publications and accomplishments seem difficult to fit into such a short lifetime. Dan’s life is complicated by his estrangement from his family, who rejected him when he came out of the closet, his struggle to earn enough money to finish his education, as well as a severe health problem—diabetes. Within a week of the start of school, it becomes obvious that Dan’s feelings for Dr. Bronwyn are reciprocated—the two make frenzied, passionate love in Bram’s office—or did they? Dan wakes up the next morning, naked in his own bed, uncertain if the sex had been a figment of his imagination brought on by a blood sugar crisis or if it had actually happened. A further complication—as if Dan needed any more—is his hunky, straight roommate and best friend, Rob. Generous and caring, Rob breaks down and confesses to Dan his true feelings. The two give in to their animalistic lust and have a night of mind-blowing sex, but Dan’s love for Bram is overpowering, and he accepts the professor’s invitation to move into his palatial home. When Dan is severely injured and almost bleeds to death, Bram saves his life, but must reveal to his young lover that he is a vampire! Dan is especially captivated to learn that his and Bram’s love is a timeless one, going back almost five dozen lifetimes and four thousand years to ancient Egypt! Around 2400 BCE, Bram, whose name was Khnumhotep, and Dan, whose name was Niankhkhnum, were lovers and the chief servants and trusted confidants of King Niuserre. Trapped in loveless marriages, the two men found happiness only in their relationship with each other, which angered their wives. Kamenwati, a powerful sorcerer and priest of Osiris, god of the dead, and of Sekhmet, goddess of destruction, whose followers drank blood in ritual worship put a curse upon Niankhkhnum was a death curse with a twist—he was doomed to an eternity of reincarnation, never to know the full peace of death. Khnumhotep’s curse was far worse—he became a vampire, forced to endure an eternity of loneliness without his beloved. Through the centuries, Bram has attempted to identify Dan’s newest incarnations in time to reunite with him. Knowing now that they are truly soul-mates throughout eternity, Dan’s love for Bram and their relationship flourishes. Dan asks Bram to turn him into a vampire so that they can break the ancient curse and be together always. But Bram must tell his lover that he cannot do that—the curse won’t allow it. He has attempted to turn Dan in previous lives, to no avail, thanks to Kamenwati’s devious curse. But perhaps there is another way these two lovers may be united throughout eternity? Timeless Love is a rarity—a well-written, highly erotic and explicit novel of gay love and sexual passion with a riveting plot that will keep readers on the edge of their seat and sizzling sex scenes that will leave them hot and bothered!

For those who truly desire a comprehensive understanding of the exigency of the incarnation, centrality of the cross and the sine qua non of the resurrection…This is a must read! Dr. Williams brilliantly weaves together orthodox theology with practical application resulting in a work meaty enough for the scholar yet digestible and building for the everyday church goer.-- Bishop Donald Clay, Petra International Ministries, Pittsburg, PAThis book is an important contribution to the 21st century Christian community. It presents a strong unapologetic biblical methodical argument of The God Man, Jesus, based on Scripture with strong visual illustrations. As such, ministers and lay persons would greatly appreciate and benefit biblically and theologically in regards to the natures and function of The God Man. Therefore, I strongly encourage and recommend everyone to read this book which presents a clear succinct understanding of The God Man.—De Lafayette Awkward, Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div. & Th.M), Hebrew University of Jerusalem (ABD), Pastor of New Lots Community Church, Reformed Church in AmericaIn 451 the Council of Chalcedon meet and confirmed that Christ had two one divine and the other human. Over the centuries the concept of the “God Man” has confused, intrigued and escaped the logic of theologians, preachers, and students. In his book “The God-Man”, Elder J. D. Williams seeks to explain his concept through comprehensive exploration and exposition. Elder Williams has provided an excellent text that includes research, sermons and illustrations that are designed to enlighten the mind, while providing further dialogue among those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of the term the “God-Man”.--Rev. Williams is a profound pedagogue who’s deep and contemplative studies are captured within these pages. His insightful perspective regarding the revelation of the mystery between God and Christ is a must read for all in search of a more weighty theological enlightenment.-- Bishop Eric R. Abuse, religion, child discipline, honesty in government, marriage, racism, and more are explored and dissected topics in the highly controversial new book, Common Sense Solutions, by JD Williams, PhD. Firmly stating his opinion and leaving little room for argument. Dr. Williams beseeches readers to ignore the urge to sit passively, neglecting the problems that we face, and instead attempts to inspire them to take a stand and to make a difference. We've all been told what topics should not be discussed with our friends. Yet, Dr. Williams asks, "why not?" And while some will certainly find offense in his writing, that is not the intent. Instead, Mr. Williams seeks to open all topics to serious and open discussion, debating the most controversial issues facing us no matter how difficult or painful. Running from or failing to address issues like racism, sexism, politics, religion, education, law, drugs, abuse and child care have failed. The time for honest debate has arrived.
