An advertising copywriter whose specialty was direct-mail campaigns, Mr. Schwartz was the author of 10 books, including “Breakthrough Advertising” and “The Brilliance Breakthrough.” He wrote some of the most celebrated lines in direct-mail advertising, such as “Give Me 15 Minutes and I’ll Give You a Super-Power Memory,” which launched the first book of the memory expert Harry Lorraine. He was born on March 18, 1927, in Butte, Mont., and studied at the University of Washington. He moved to New York City in 1949, joining the advertising firm of Huber Hoge & Sons as a messenger boy and working his way up to copy chief. In 1954 he went into business on his own.
This is not a book just for copywriters and other advertising experts but a book for every business owner, marketing expert or anyone who needs to increase sales. The reason why is because it deals with how to channel the forces in the marketplace which control sales.Put simply, Gene's book addresses the universal problem of all copywriting: How to write a headline — and an ad that follows it — that will open up a whole new market.

How to Double Your Child's Grades in Build Brilliance and Leadership into Your Child-From Kindergarten to College-In Just 5 Minutes a Day

Today’s children are an endangered species. As a result of the reductionism spawned by Freud and the homogenization of the stages of human life that followed, many children seem to have lost their childhood and been thrust into the confusing and chaotic world of adults.Eugene Schwartz presents an incisive analysis of the ways in which the errors of the first third of our century have come back to haunt us at the century’s end. After carefully examining Sigmund Freud’s tragic misunderstanding of childhood and tracing its consequences for today’s parents and educators, the author points to the radically new paradigm of childhood development offered by Rudolf Steiner and embodied in Waldorf education.Parents, teachers, and child psychologists will find a wealth of insight concerning such diverse subjects as the nature of play, the causes of ADHD, computers as teachers, and the power that love and imagination will have in the education of the Millennial Child.
Is Waldorf education "the best-kept secret in America"? Author Eugene Schwartz contends that many of the crises and failings of schools in the United States in the past decades could have been avoided had more been known about the Waldorf method. This book presents a concise picture of what a Waldorf school is, and why the 750 Waldorf schools worldwide have provided tens of thousands of children with "education towards freedom" throughout the twentieth century. Mr. Schwartz traces the schools' development since the founding of the first Waldorf school in 1919, explains the psychological and philosophical foundations formulated by Rudolf Steiner, and provides examples of the powerful and positive effect of life in the Waldorf classroom. For the teacher, parent or child psychologist looking for an educational system that honors and celebrates the value of childhood, this book will be a storehouse of valuable information and insight.

Why are school activities done in particular rhythms in a Waldorf school? What is the effect of doing tasks with cheerfulness and devotion? How does the night help the work of the day? How does rhythm influence digestion? How does rhythm help the development of bodily organs? And what about soul and spirit?Turning Points in the Life of the Child from the Nine-Year-Old Change to the Onset of Adolescence,' a lecture given to parents of the Green Meadow Waldorf School, Spring Valley, New York on November 21, 1986. This story is one of persistence and courage and a fable about ecology, telling an epic tale that spans continents and countries. Dragonsblood begins with a group of children doing battle with a dragon in medieval Europe and ends with the aftermath of a disasterous oil spill in Alaska. Are these two events―although distant in time and space, connected in some way? Can a dragon be slain, or must he be overcome again and again? The powerful themes of Dragonsblood are enhanced by dramatic, full-color blackboard drawings, marking the first time this medium has been employed to illustrate a book.

Stories create strong images for children. Far more effective than moralizing, confrontation, or criticism, pedagogical stories give moral pictures to children. This book eloquently explains the role of the pedagogical story and gives several examples of its use. It is equally valuable to parents and teachers.

For teachers and parents of adolescents and those interested in the art of working with groups. Lecture 1, " The Search for the Self," develops a threefold picture of adolescence and offers helpful suggestions for parents and teachers. 'The arts...provide that delicate balance between self-expression and objectivity that adolescents sorely need.... What is unique about Waldorf schools is not that they provide courses in art and courses in academics [but] that virtually all courses are at once academic and artistic, so that the adolescent is always addressed as a whole person." Lecture 2, "Weaving the Social Fabric of the Class," pertains mainly to teachers, but offers valuable insights on the temperaments for parents as well. The title of this lecture...brings to mind a remark that the British writer Carlyle once made about the difference between youth and old age, He said that when we are young, our life unfolds like a beautiful tapestry. When we grow old, we are permitted to step behind the tapestry. It is no longer so beautiful, but at last we can see all of the threads and follow their connections.
